5 Days of Adoration and Festivity
The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge Prince William and Kate Middleton paid a 5 days official visit to Pakistan from October 14 to 18. The royal visit received tremendous coverage in the local and foreign media. Throughout their visit the royal couple demonstrated deep understanding, respect and affection towards the local culture, tradition and values. The couple arrived Islamabad wearing Pakistani dress that earned them instantaneous liking and admiration of the local people. The couple was warmly welcomed wherever they went throughout their five days visit. There was an environment of festivity and jubilation in Islamabad, Lahore and other places that the couple visited.
The royal couple was presented with guards of honor at Nur Khan Airbase. They visited a local school for the disadvantaged children besides meeting with the Prime Minister Imran Khan and the President Arif Alvi. The Prime Minister hosted a lunch in the honor of Prince William and Princess Kate. During a day’s visit to Chitral and surrounding areas the couple took keen interest in the Kalash Culture of Pakistan and were warmly received by the locals who had come out in full color and galore, so characteristic of the Kalash people of Pakistan.
During visit to Lahore, the couple visited SOS Children’s Village, met with the members of the Woman Cricket Team of Pakistan at the National Cricket Academy and paid a visit to the historical Badshahi Mosque.
Prince Williams called the visit to Pakistan as highly significant and showed his satisfaction with the security situation especially in the Khyber Pakhtunkhawa Province that had been on the forefront during War on Terror activities. The authorities in Islamabad as also the people of Pakistan hope that the successfully concluded royal visit will foster greater understanding and cooperation amongst people and governments in Britain and Pakistan.
