Rescue 1122, abbreviated to 1122 (One One Two Two) in daily conversation, is an emergency support service agency. The service can be accessed by dialing 1122 from any landline or mobile phone in case of a medical, fire, police or any other emergency requiring help. Rescue 1122 envisages providing for “safe communities where all citizens are provided the right to timely emergency response and care without discrimination” which is a very noble mission in itself. Constituted under The Punjab Emergency Services Act 2006, agency’s mission is “establishment of an effective system for emergency preparedness, response, protection & prevention; while contributing towards building socially responsible, healthy, resilient and safer communities”.

Key Objectives

The stated key objectives of Rescue 1122 are as follows:

Provision of the right to timely emergency care by providing quality emergency services as per international standards.

Undertake research to recommend evidence based measures to related organizations for prevention of emergencies.

Contribute towards establishment of socially responsible community emergency response teams through awareness, enrollment, training & organizing volunteers for emergency preparedness, response & prevention.

Response Time

Ever since its inception, Rescue 1122 has enjoyed the goodwill and trust of the people of the province of Punjab by providing efficient, timely and professional emergency services to the citizens. The agency has rescued millions of people through its imaginative use of ambulances, and rescue and fire services. The agency is proud of its verified claim of consistently maintaining 7 minutes of average response time in all jurisdictions. The agency has been ”notified as the Disaster Response Force by the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) & Government of the Punjab”.

Organizational Structure

The agency is headed by a civil servant designated as Director General of the Punjab Emergency Service (Rescue 1122). A District Emergency Officer at the level of each district is responsible for operational and administrative control of the agency at the district level and works in close collaboration with the District Coordination Officer, who is also the head of the District Emergency Board.
